In the 1990s, my brother and I formed VLA (Very Large Array) in Los Angeles. Stephen played guitar; I provided vocals. Neither of us had ever written songs, but we did share musical interests—artists like the Talking Heads, Pixies, Velvets, Television. Within five months we had composed our first songs, filled out the band, and began playing live shows. Lots of them. Within two years we were the pick-of-the-week in the alternative newspaper, LA Weekly, and had garnered major label interest. An indie album followed as well as a series of other tracks featured below.
